The Horizontal Pod Autoscaler automatically scales the number of pods in a deployment or stateful set based on observed CPU or memory utilisation.

On Deployment list page you'll find a Horizontal Pod Autoscaler link for each listed deployment. On Horizontal Pod Autoscaler edit page you are able to create / update HPA configurations for each Kubernetes deployment or stateful set resource.

You can set the min/max replica count, target average utilisation percentage value for CPU and target average utilisation value or percentage for memory. These average values are mean of the utilization values across all targeted pods of a deployment or stateful set and are used to produce a ratio used to scale the number of desired replicas.

Upon updating these values Pipeline actually only creates/updates HPA specific annotations on deployment, then taken care by HPA operator of the rest, managing HPA resource for deployment accordingly. Read more about details about Horizontal Pod Autoscaler Kubernetes Operator
